Mother Nature has Negatively Affected Minnesota This Summer

If you look around Central Minnesota, everything is so green. A big part of that is because there has been rainfall, contributing in a positive way to how everything looks in the area.

Not everywhere has the recent rains been so kind. Across Minnesota, there are areas where Mother Nature has had adverse effects. 

Roads in the Superior Natural Forest have been closed due to recent storms. Some of the roads in that area were placed under a “restricted use” alert for the same reasons. The United States Forest Service has been keeping an eye on this situation.  

The Soudan Underground Mine Tours at Lake Vermillion have been suspended due to flooding. There was also some lightening damage at the location and the underground tours will be halted until after July 23rd. 

In Stillwater, their 4th of July fireworks has been postponed because of the rising waters on the St. Croix River. The Stillwater Lift Bridge is a popular place to watch the fireworks, and it has been closed for now.  

Three popular rides at Valleyfair have been shut down because of flooding in the area as well. Thunder Canyon, Excalibur, and Renegade have all been stopped because they sit in a flood zone area. The rest of the park is said to be above where the water is expected to rise to. 

Some of the parking lots at Valleyfair have been affected by the flooding and overflow parking is available, but park goers should allow some extra time to find parking.  

There is more rain in the forecast, if you have plans to travel for certain events or to visit certain locations, you should probably keep an eye on the weather, and maybe even the social media pages of where you are going for the latest updates.
