MN’s Largest School District is Being Held Hostage by Jerkfaces
This sh*t is seriously exhausting. All I want is for my kid to learn about the world before entering into it as an adult. That means the good and the bad. All of it. If you're afraid of "diversity" and "divisive" topics like ethnic studies, then being on the school board is not for you. Especially in a state's largest school district.
Hold onto your butts, it's another case of Choad Rage.
Anoka-Hennepin School District Could Shut Down July 1st
Three members of the Anoka-Hennepin school board are unhappy about programs about gender and racial equity, so they're threatening to not vote in favor of the 2024-2025 budget.
If it's not passed, Minnesota's largest school district - with nearly 40,000 students - would shut down.
First, What a School District Shutdown Means
If a budget isn't in place, a district can't spend money on - among other things - teacher salaries. Teachers are already paid peanuts. Health insurance, grounds keeping, and construction projects would also be shut down.
And Now, Back to the Bullsh*t
The jerkface in question is Matt Audette. Matt also gets the Big Mads about such outlandish ideals like anti-racism, social-emotional learning, pronouns (OH NO, NOT PRONOUNS!), and displays that aren't exclusively the American flag...even though teaching those very things are state law.
His reasoning: "It is time to put a stop to the spreading of divisive, one-sided views, training, and learning that go against the values and beliefs of many families, students, and staff in our community."
"Many" doesn't equate to the vast majority.
If the "one-sided views" he's bitching about matched his own, I'm sure he wouldn't be trying to shut down the entire school district over it.
Go back to your safe space and send your kids to a private school that's also stuck in the past, Matt.
