MN State Fair Competitions Go Virtual
The Minnesota State Fair may be canceled this year due to the pandemic, but some competitions will still move forward virtually.
This is great news for students in K-12 who still want to showcase their photography, artwork and other skills. The Fine Arts Exhibition of Minnesota plans to have an online panel of judges to award prizes. According to the State Fair website, the online categories include; cookie decorating, K-12 artwork and photography, quilt on a stick and crop art.

Perhaps you want to enter your works into the virtual showcase! Entries will be accepted now through August 27 at 4:30 p.m. You can find contact information to submit your work on the State Fair Virtual Showcase website.
People can also go and see the Fine Arts Exhibition of Minnesota in person August 27 through September 7 in the Fine Arts Center on the State Fairgrounds. A virtual video of the exhibit will also be available online.
The exhibit features the works of hundreds of Minnesotans in eight categories; oil, acrylic, mix media; sculpture; watercolor/gouache/casein/tempera; drawing/pastel; prints; ceramics/glass; textiles/fiber; and photography.
Tickets are $10 per person. Building capacity has been reduced to 25 percent because of COVID-19. If you buy a ticket, you'll need to choose a 90-minute time slot to see the gallery.
To insure your safety if you choose to view the exhibit in-person, State Fair staff will be wearing masks and the building will be cleaned and properly sanitized. Gallery viewers will also be required to provide their own masks and wear it in the building.
Free parking is offered in lots near the Fine Arts Center.
