The Minnesota Orchestra is using music to ease anxiety and bring joy during an uncertain season.

"Orchestra Hall may be temporarily closed," reads the Minnesota Orchestra's "At Home" page on Youtube, "but our musicians are still practicing and performing and want to continue to share their music with you. Enjoy this ongoing series of small concerts created for all of us, directly from our musicians’ homes."

In their latest video -- released Monday, May 11 -- the MN Orchestra teamed up with local Minnesota artist Dessa for a rendition of her song "Skeleton Key."

Dessa is a local Minnesota-based singer, rapper and writer knowing for bucking genres and defying expectations. She's performed at Lollaplooza and Glastonbury and sold out shows with the Minnesota Orchestra. Her 2018 album Chime earned a spot on Billboard's Top 200 Albums chart. Her written work has also been published by The New York Times and National Geographic Traveler. An artist under local record label Doomtree, Dessa's been covered by Pitchfork, Forbes, and The Wall Street Journal amongst others.

The Minnesota Orchestra, for its part, has been doing a series of at home performances with various artists and musicians including session cellist Minji Choi, Minnesota Orchestra Concert Master Erin Keefe and Music Director Osmo Vanska, Principal Cellist Anthony Ross and dancer Erin Ross, and others. The Minnesota Orchestra is funded by donors, and through May financial gifts are doubled by generous matching donors. You can make a financial gift here.
