Sartell kindergarteners at Oak Ridge Early Learning Center had a brush with fame last week. On February 26 the Sartell-St. Stephen School District shared photos of Miss America 2020 Camille Schrier joining in on a science lesson via video chat.

The school district wrote, "Do you know who said, 'Miss America can be a scientist and a scientist can be Miss America'? Mrs. Trimbo's Mystery Reader this week … Miss America 2020 Camille Schrier!"

How cool is that? Camille Schrier is a Doctor of Pharmacy student.  She also has dual Bachelor of Science degrees in biochemistry and systems biology. When she was competing for the title of Miss America, she performed 'catalytic decomposition of hydrogen peroxide' as her talent.

Camille Schrier read a book called 'Ada Twist, Scientist' to the class and then she followed that up with a hands-on science experiment that involved paint and glitter.

What a fun memory and cool opportunity for the students. Miss America is a huge advocate for STEM which stands for science, technology, engineering and mathematics education.

The photos have gained dozens of positive reactions from people in the community.

Miss America's mom Cheryl Schrier even weighed in, "Oh I asked for pictures!!!! Hopefully we can get some [with] the kiddos [with] permission!!!! So Thrilled. Camille Schrier loved doing this appearance!!!!"

Jill MarieBraaten Helmin DC wrote, "Mrs. Trimbo is the best!!"

Julie Deters said, "Ryker had so much fun with this! He loves his kindergarten family so much!"

What a fun memory for Mrs. Lindsey Trimbo's class! Thanks for sharing your experience with us, Sartell!
