Minnesota’s Favorite Thanksgiving Side Is The Same As Wisconsin’s
Minnesotans and Wisconsinites have several rivalries because, well, we're neighbors. We both have a slight case of the 'keeping up with the Jones' mentality mixed with a hint of sibling rivalry. With Thanksgiving coming up, we love to look for the positives and reasons to be thankful.
Well, there's one thing Minnesotans can agree on with Wisconsinites...and that's Thanksgiving dinner. According to Zippia, both states agree, the most popular Thanksgiving side dish is mashed potatoes.
In fact, mashed potatoes are the choice side in 10 states. The second favorite side in the country is mac n' cheese. I've got to say, I've never been to a Thanksgiving dinner that served up mac n' cheese. And, I kind of want to know what that's like. I feel like I've been doing Turkey Day wrong my whole life.
If you're wondering how Zippia found out each state's favorite side, you're in luck. They looked at over 20 of the 'classic' Thanksgiving sides. Wait, 20 sides?? I can maybe think of 7 or 8...
...mashed potatoes & gravy, green bean casserole, cranberries, yams/sweet potatoes, corn, rolls, fruit salad...um...what else is there?
Well, they decided to count gravy as its own side and mac n' cheese. Seriously. They decided to look at which of the 20 sides got the most internet traffic during November. The results show Minnesotans daydreaming about mashed potatoes for days.
I think Zippia got it right for us here in the land of 10,000 lakes. What do you think? What's your favorite Thanksgiving side dish?
