I didn’t have to be inside Grand Casino Arena on Sunday to feel the energy inside the stadium. The Frost didn’t just win. They dominated.

For those people watching the Minnesota Frost take the ice for their first home game of 2026, it was impossible not to feel proud of this team, proud of women’s hockey in Minnesota, and proud that our two-time Walter Cup champions continue to set the standard across the PWHL.

Minnesota skated past Seattle with a convincing 6–2 victory, lighting up the scoreboard in front of nearly 10,000 fans and reminding the league exactly who they are.

THE PLAYERS WORKING THE ICE

Katy Knoll opened the scoring late in the first period, netting her third goal of the season and igniting the offense. Then came Grace Zumwinkle in the second period, striking twice...once just 40 seconds in...and completely shifting the momentum.

Every time Minnesota was on the attack, it felt like another goal was coming, and more often than not, it did. Go MN Frost!

THREE-GOAL LEAD EARLY IN THE THIRD PERIOD

Taylor Heise continued to shine, tallying a goal and two assists for her third career three-point game. She restored the Frost’s three-goal lead early in the third period and finished the night with a season-high six shots on goal.

Knoll added her second goal of the game. Rookie Abby Hustler capped off the scoring, and Maddie Rooney made 24 saves to seal the win.

HEAD COACH KEN KLEE

Head coach Ken Klee has said it clearly, "Everyone is expected to contribute." And they did. Defenders jumped into the play, rookies made their presence known, and veterans led with confidence. It was a full-team effort.

Grace Zumwinkle summed it up perfectly after the game, saying the focus wasn’t on goals or points, but on creating chances.

FIRST TEAM TO SCORE SIX GOALS IN A GAME

Minnesota became the first team this season to score six goals in a game, something they’ve now done multiple times in franchise history, including during their Walter Cup championship runs.

The win also marked a meaningful return home. After five straight games away from Grand Casino Arena, the Frost came back and delivered exactly what fans hoped for. The victory moved them into second place in the standings.
