Not even a poor Lady Gaga cover could keep Minnesota's own Lizzo from reaching the top!

Despite a rough performance recently of the smash hit song "Shallow," rising Minneapolis star Lizzo's latest album Cuz I Love You debuted at No. 1 on iTunes albums chart, according to Bring Me the News.

On Friday, Lizzo's third studio album released to positive feedback from critics. Esquire called it "One of the Best of the Year" saying "the new album outpaces Lizzo's earlier releases in its vulnerability, defiance, self-actualization, and sheer catchiness by a country mile."

The Guardian, too, heaped praise, giving the album 4 out of 5 stars and calling it "unapologetically loud, bold and full-on, simultaneously old-fashioned (soul, doo-wop and romance figure) but immensely fresh in the bargain."

Leading up to Cuz I Love You, Lizzo made waves late last year with the release of her song and music video "Boys" which also made Time Magazine's list of "10 Best Songs of 2018."
