Local Students to Take Center Stage For Annual “Night of the Star” Showcase
ST. CLOUD -- Local young talent will be taking center stage in St. Cloud this weekend for the 16th Annual Night of the Stars showcase.
The two night show will take place on Friday and Saturday at 7:00 p.m. at the Paramount Theatre.
Students from all ages in District 742 will be doing anything from singing, instrumentals, dancing, comedy and more.
Bruce Hentges is the executive director for the Local Education and Activities Foundation (LEAF). He says each year the show takes on its own personality.
"I think we have more group performances then we have had in the past. Madison, Lincoln, Kennedy and South all have group performances this year," says Hentges.
Money raised from the event goes towards LEAF. Hentges says they see more acts coming to auditions every year.
"The first year we had to beg for acts to audition. This year we had about 50 individual acts that auditioned and from there we chose about 25 acts," says Hentges.
LEAF has also opened an online auction to raise money that runs until March 1st. Proceeds will benefit student activities in area schools. You can click here for more on the auction.
