Claire’s Closing More Stores Including One in Minnesota
If you grew up cruising the mall with your friends, odds are you made at least one stop at Claire's. Back in the day, they had a location in every mall, or at least it felt that way.
Whether you were buying butterfly clips, mood rings, or earrings, Claire's was the go-to. I even got my ears pierced there (twice!).
But now? Claire's has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, again. If this sounds familiar, it’s because the chain also filed back in 2018. This time around, they’re closing more stores, including at least one in Minnesota.

According to USA Today, the company has continued to struggle since their last bankruptcy was filed. Competition from popular fashion giants like Shein and Temu has cut into Claire's sales, and despite operating more than 1,300 stores across the U.S., they’ve been feeling the pressure.
Now, a total of 18 Claire's and Icing stores are set to close, with clearance sales expected to wrap up no later than September 7th. USA Today says that according to court filings, more stores could close depending on financial restructuring.

The first round of confirmed closings includes five Icing stores. It looks like the Icing inside the Mall of America is safe for now.
As for Claire's, the Minnesota location at Northtown Mall in Blaine is on the chopping block. The rest of the stores closing are scattered across the country, including spots in Chicago, Alabama, California, and more.
Once the Blaine location closes, Claire’s will be left with 19 stores in Minnesota, including spots in Rochester, Mankato, and most of the rest in the Twin Cities area.
It’s the end of an era for many, but if you’ve got a favorite Claire’s near you, it might be time for one last nostalgic trip down the accessory aisle.
