Minnesota High School Football Captain Critically Injured During Game
As a football mom, this story hit me right in the gut. It’s the fear we all push to the back of our minds when our kids run onto the field under those Friday night lights. One minute, you’re cheering from the bleachers. The next, life changes in an instant.
On September 11th, that nightmare became reality for the Alden-Conger/Glenville-Emmons Knights football team when senior captain Henry Beaver went into the game and ended up in the hospital.
Henry suffered a traumatic brain injury during their game against Kingsland and had to be airlifted directly from the field to St. Mary’s Hospital, where he remains in the ICU under close neurological care.
According to his GoFundMe page, Henry has already made encouraging progress since the accident, though his recovery will be a long journey.
His family shared: “He is working with his physical therapy team to ensure a successful return home. Henry has been playing football since third grade and was chosen to be one of the captains for his senior year. He took pride in being a captain and wanting to be a role model for the younger players.”

Support is pouring in from across Minnesota and beyond, as teammates, classmates, and community members rally around him and his family.
If you’d like to help, you can contribute to the GoFundMe or share it to spread the word. Every message, prayer, and donation helps fuel Henry’s fight and reminds this family they are not alone.
