Kids Dig In To Create A Special Mother’s Day Gift
ST. CLOUD (WJON News) -- Area kids were able to get a little dirty while making a personalized gift for mom on Saturday. St. Cloud Scheels held its 2nd Annual Youth Pick, Paint, and Pot Event.
Kids ages 5 to 15 got to pick a flower pot, decorate it, plant a flower in their pot, and then bring it home to mom. Scheels' Event Coordinator Jamie Mortland says she wanted to create a simple event, that had meaning for kids, and let them be hands-on in creating a gift for mom but is still fun for them to do.
She says the best part of the day is seeing all the huge smiles on the kids' faces when they are finished with their pot. Mortland says they had over 225 kids attend. The Youth Pick, Paint, and Pot event was free and ran from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
