Empty Bowls: A Gathering of Hope is on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. in the parking lot across the street from The House Food and Tap.
Saint Benedict's Monastery is the host of the event.
Attendees buy a bowl handcrafted by local potters and artists and enjoy a shared meal of locally made soups and breads. There are no set prices; you are just asked to donate what you can.
All proceeds will benefit the St. Joseph Community Food Shelf. Last year's inaugural Empty Bowls event attracted more than 300 people and raised nearly $6,500. Last year, the St. Joseph Community Food Shelf served over 140 households, distributed over 60 Thanksgiving baskets, and distributed over 60 Christmas baskets.
