Last Wednesday, Zimmerman and much of Central Minnesota saw something amazing.

They saw an outpouring of support, time, and resources from the community as they worked together to locate a missing 7-year-old girl. Some people helped in the search, others raised awareness, and social media played a huge role in that. Now, it’s time to pivot.

If you’re not aware of the search for the girl, you can read WJON’s coverage of the event here.

Now, officials are asking for your help in protecting the little girl and her family by deleting any of the social media posts that you may have put up during the crisis.

A Facebook post from the Sherburne County Sheriff’s Office is asking everyone to remove posts so the family can have a little privacy.

Out of respect and for the safety and privacy of the family, the Sherburne County Sheriff’s Office is asking the Facebook community to remove any posts from their personal Facebook pages in relation to the missing child from Wednesday evening (anything that may contain names, photos, or the address/location of the incident).

The Sheriff’s Office greatly appreciates your prompt attention and cooperation in this matter as another way to support the family during this difficult time.

It’s an easy request to grant. Please take some time this very cold weekend to check your feeds.
