5 Fun Ways to Keep Cool During This Heatwave in Minnesota
It's hot. There is no way around it. I have heard people who love the heat even saying this is a bit much. It's hard to be outside doing anything for any length of time before you start sweating - without even exerting yourself. Sweat just running all over in places you definitely don't want it to.
The last thing we all want to do is stay in the house during these days when we look forward to warmer days all winter long. But sometimes - in cases like this, we do head for the AC.
That brings me to my first place that is perfect for cooling off for a bit.
HEAD TO THE THEATRE TO COOL OFF AND SEE A GREAT MOVIE

Is there a new release that you would like to see - and usually you wait until it's available through streaming? Now is the time to see a matinee. They are less expensive, and it's definitely cooler in there - you may even need to bring a blanket. Plus, on Tuesdays, Parkwood Theatre in Waite Park has discount movie day.
LAKES AND RIVERS - JUMP INTO THE WATER AND ENJOY

We are the land of 10,000 + lakes, rivers, streams and the like. So, let's take advantage of that situation! Head to a beach and just hang out by the water for the day. Remember the sunscreen! Maybe you own a boat or know someone who does, makes it even better - head to the middle of the lake, tie a floatie to the boat and just relax in the cool water.
AREA SPLASH PADS AND WADING POOLS

These are amazing! Your kids will have a great time running around the splash pads, playing in all the different types of water spigots and just having a great time. All while staying cool.
HEAD TO A SHOPPING MALL
This one has a double win - win. It's usually very cool in these buildings. So that's the first part that is awesome. Plus, you don't have to actually buy anything. You can just wander around and just get your steps in. You can get some exercise, become a mall walker, and stay cool. It's like the opposite from the winter. You stay in because it's cold out, but this one works too - stay in because it's so hot out.
ENJOY SOME OF THE AREA ACTIVITIES FOR KIDS AND FAMILIES
Finally, this might be fun too, and keep the kids occupied. Try either the trampoline park here in St. Cloud or the Childrens museum or the public library. Lots of activities and it's air conditioned. Activities and cool air. Perfect combination on these hot days.
