Genola’s Red Rooster Earns Top Honors (Again) For Bloody Mary

Over the weekend, a Central Minnesota bar took the drive down to the Twin Cities to compete in another Bloody Mary contest. The good news is they walked out of the competition with some new hardware, one of which was another People's Choice award.

Winning Over Fans & Winning Awards

The Red Rooster Bar and Grill in Genola took home more hardware over the weekend as they were awarded another People's Choice award at the Twin Cities Bloody Mary Festival, held at the Union Depot in St. Paul. Not only did the bar win another People's Choice award (for the 2nd session), they also took home 2nd place after they tied with Hell's Kitchen in Minneapolis for best orginal Bloody Mary. This was the first contest in which the Rooster brought its premium Bloody Mary to.

The premium Red Rooster Bloody Mary features a bacon-infused vodka, as well as the signature horseradish pickles that the bar has become known for.

Keeping Their Bloody Local

The premium Red Rooster Bloody Mary has bacon-infused vodka, which is infused in-house using another Pierz-Genola tradition, Thielen's Meats bacon. The infused vodka has a somewhat smoky finish to it, making it, for some, an acquired taste.

A First For The Red Rooster

The Red Rooster also had a first while at the Twin Cities Bloody Mary Festival, according to the owners, this was the first time the Rooster took home an award from the Judges' Choice column.

The Red Rooster took home overall 2nd place, and that was from being judged against all of the other competitors, from both sessions.

Lakeville Bar Took Home The Most Honors

Taking home three awards at the Twin Cities festival was the Northern Taphouse in Lakeville. They won first place for:

• Best Bloody Mary - Traditional
• Best Garnish
• People's Choice - Session 1
