Twenty years ago, on the waters of Lake Minnetonka, during the bye week, a group of Minnesota Vikings players rented a boat. What then proceeded to happen has gone down in Vikings' fans folklore; it was dubbed the 'Love Boat'. Going into this week, which also happened to be the Vikings' bye week, a group of players were looking at spending part of the week renting boats and going on Lake Minnetonka. That was until a Vikings fan, who also happens to be a Vikings player's wife, entered the chat.

A Lifelong Vikings Fan Shared The 'History' Of Bye Week Boating

Samantha Van Ginkel, the wife of Vikings linebacker Andrew Van Ginkel, grew up a Vikings fan, and when some players started talking about potentially renting a boat for the bye week, she entered the chat and dropped a link for players to read.

She tweeted about it on X, after a Vikings coverage account tweeted about the ominous anniversary.

While I don't think that the players talking about renting a boat would have thought about the type of entertainment that was brought aboard that fateful October 2005 cruise, it still served as a reminder to the players: don't tempt fate or let history repeat itself.

It Was The Players' Reactions To That Article That Got Me

According to a follow-up tweet from SVG on X, the players' reactions to the original Love Boat had me rolling.

How is it possible that these players aren't familiar with this ugly chapter of Vikings bye week lore? The Wilfs should make this cautionary tale a part of training camp for all the players, emphasizing the need to be a model citizen.

Beautiful Photos From Clemens Gardens

This weekend was a great one to get out and do something fun. I wanted to destress, so I drove over to Clemens Gardens for a nice stroll through the gardens. What a beautiful place it is. There are flowers everywhere, as well as fountains and statues. These photos only capture part of what's available to see, but in case you haven't had a chance to visit, now is a great time to view them, as everything is in full bloom. Take a look at some beautiful photos and then make a plan to take your own trip. All of your senses will thank you.
