Egg Watch Begins on FalconCam Nest
WE ARE PREPARING FOR EGGS!
We are preparing for eggs! The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources Falcon Cam says that the same Falcons occupying the nesting box are the same pair we followed last year.
According to their Facebook page, there are INDEED four eggs in the box. We can expect them to start hatching around May 9th.

ACADIA'S BACK
Acadia has called that same nesting box home for many years, but for some reason, she chose a different partner last year. It must be working out between the two of them, as they were seen courting each other on the FalconCam, preparing a nest in the gravel of the box.
It's possible that there could be more than four eggs, as there have been in the past, but the DNR says that probably won't happen.
BEHIND LAST YEAR'S SCHEDULE
Last year, the falcons laid their eggs around April 11th, so our falcons seem to be right on schedule.
Acadia, the female, is a 12-year-old Falcon, and her partner is a 16-year-old male.
"We hope the FalconCam generates appreciation of this fascinating species of special concern and helps connect Minnesotans to the incredible wildlife around them. Last year, this pair successfully fledged two chicks from their nest. We hope for a chance to see them rear a family again this year," said DNR Wildlife Engagement Supervisor Jessica Ruthenberg in an online article.
SUCCESS STORY
Peregrine falcons were on the verge of extinction in the 1970s, and the DNR calls the return of Peregrine's a success story here in Minnesota.
