Minnesota’s Enchanting Ice Castles Announce Move To A New Location For 2023-2024 Winter Season

In what has become a Minnesota tradition for the last number of years, the company Ice Castles has made a home in the Land of 10,000 Lakes. The outfit sets up shop in a small handful of northern cities each winter, creating some beautiful ice creations lit with color-changing lights inside the icy structures.

The cold weather locations on the company's website include cities in Colorado, New Hampshire, Utah, Wisconsin, New York, and (of course) Minnesota.

Minnesota's Ice Castles have been in a few different Minnesota cities over the years. Eden Prairie, Stillwater, Excelsior, Bloomington (at the Mall of America), and New Brighton have been previous locations for the icy attraction.

The organization announced after crafting their icy wonderland the last three winters in New Brighton, they will be "packing up their icicles and igloos" and moving to a new location.

Where will this year's Minnesota Ice Castles be?

While it won't be leaving the Twin Cities metro area, it will be heading further north for the 2023-2024 season. Ice Castles LLC shared that this year they will be moving their attraction to Maple Grove, Minnesota.

The destination for the Maple Grove version of the Ice Castles will be in the area near Main Street and Weaver Lake Road in Maple Grove.

What will be at this year's Ice Castles?

In social media posts from Ice Castles and from Experience Maple Grove, they say this year's attraction will feature many of the same types of experiences as in years past, with a new spin at the new location.

Things that are being promoted as part of this year's attraction include:

• Ice slides
• Ice caverns & archways
• Ice sculptures
• Tubing hill
• Ice bar
• Fire shows

When will this year's Minnesota Ice Castles open?

This is all very weather-dependent. In years past, early to mid-January has been when the attraction opens.

It takes a good stretch of cold weather to allow for the formation of the various structures, which means that our generally colder weather in December is "construction season" before things can generally open in January.

Again, weather-dependent, things usually stay open well into February.
