Is ‘÷’ (divide) the Name of Ed Sheeran’s Next Album?
After breaking his social media silence on January 1 to announce that new music is coming on Friday, Jan. 6, singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran tweeted a cryptic video with what looks to be an animated division symbol against a sky blue background the following day. And on January 3, he followed it up with what may be a lyric from his upcoming release.
"When I was six years old I broke my leg..." the writing in Sheeran's latest video reads. To quote one of his followers, "WHAT DOES THIS MEAN"? We just may find out on January 6.
Sheeran's previous albums are named '+' (plus) and 'x' (multiply), so the '÷' (divide) symbol in his January 2 tweet would make sense as the name of his third record.
The message comes as Sheeran slowly returns to social media after almost one year of being away. A year ago, the "A-Team" singer wrote to fans: “I’m taking a break from my phone, emails, and all social media for a while. I’ve had such an amazing ride over the last give years, but I find myself seeing the world through a screen and not my eyes, so I’m taking this opportunity of me not having to be anywhere or do anything to travel the world and see everything I missed.”
