Meet the Iowa Man Who is on the First Ever ‘Golden Bachelorette’

'The Bachelor' has been a popular reality TV show for many years. From there, the franchise has added 'The Bachelorette' and now they're adding a version of those shows but for those in their golden years.

Just last year the first season of 'The Golden Bachelor' aired starring Gerry Turner. And now, the first-ever season of 'The Golden Bachelorette' is coming next month! The star of the season is Joan Vassos. She was also on 'The Golden Bachelor'.

All of the men who will be vying for Joan's heart were just revealed and one of the men is from Iowa! We'll get to him in a second.

Who is the Golden Bachelorette

Joan was on Gerry's season of 'The Golden Bachelor' but her time on the show was cut short. People writes, "she chose to withdraw during week three to prioritize her family."

She also shared more about the decision on Instagram saying, "Family comes first, period. Once a mother, always a mother, I’ll always choose my kids first."

Joan is 61 years young and was married to her late husband, John, for 32 years. Sadly, John passed away from pancreatic cancer in January of 2021.

Now, Joan is ready to find someone to share the rest of her years with and hopefully, she can find that perfect guy on 'The Golden Bachelorette'!

Iowa Man is Part of 'The Golden Bachelorette' Cast

As for the Iowa man who is vying for Joan's heart, his name is Jonathan and he's also 61 years young.

Jonathan is from Oakland, IA, and works as a shipping consultant. Fun fact at Jonathan, Entertainment Weekly says that he 'toyed with the idea of being a bodybuilder.'

'The Golden Bachelorette' will premiere on Wednesday, September 18th at 7 PM on ABC.
