NO MORE PFA PRODUCTS TO BE SOLD IN MINNESOTA IN 2025

Minnesota is making a statement. We aren't going to put up with forever chemicals in our products. We are going to do what we can to protect Minnesotans from the damage of PFA's.
By 2025, which is now less than 100 days away, products containing PFA's, like cosmetics, cookware, and carpeting, will NOT be sold in Minnesota.

REQUIREMENTS

The 2025 'Made without PFA's (Forever Chemicals) requirements will help protect Minnesotans from the damage that Forever Chemicals have on its population. Minnesota will have the most restrictive ban on PFAs in the nation come January 1st, 2025.

Per and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAs) are also known as 'forever chemicals.' Most of us have been exposed to the chemicals. They are used in a variety of everyday products like:

  • Containers/wrappers
  • Microwave popcorn bags
  • Pizza boxes
  • Candy wrappers
  • Non-stick cookware
  • Stain-resistant coatings on carpets, upholstery, and other fabrics
  • Personal care products
  • Shampoos
  • Dental Floss
  • Cosmetics
  • Nail Polish

PFAS IN FOOD

Some PFAs are found in the food that we eat. Fish that people catch in areas that are contaminated with PFAs is available by clicking HERE.

Some studies show long-term exposure to these chemicals even if it is in small amounts can cause a variety of health concerns such as immune suppression, changes in liver function, and lower birth weights in babies.

When the ban starts in 2025, the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency says that consumers may notice a change to inventory and products available in stores and online, but shortages of products are not expected.
