My wife and I were invited to a friend's surprise birthday party this past weekend.

About 18 of us showed up at Emagine Entertainment in Monticello Saturday night to throw axes at the newly-added MN Axe. This was a first-time for most of us, but it proved to be really fun for everyone. After being taught the two methods of throwing axes by our Axe Masters -- two handed or one handed...I preferred two handed myself -- and being given some practice rounds to adjust to the feel of the axes in our hands, we then began a round-robin style competition to crown our ultimate axe-throwing king (or queen). I ended up taking 5th place after barely losing by one throw in the second round; my wife took 12th, still impressive for 18 of us.

At $40 for a two-hour reserved time slot, cost is reasonable. One-hour walks-ins at $20 per hour area also available as well as group discounts of $35 per person for two hours for groups of 36 or more.  Food and drink are also available, and service at the Monticello location -- I might add -- is fantastic.

As of December 2019, MN Axe at the Monticello Emagine Entertainment is the only Central Minnesota location and closest to St. Cloud, though there are also several other locations around the Twin Cities if you find yourself down that way. The Monticello location features 8 arenas and 16 lanes.

I'd highly recommend axe throwing for a new, fun birthday party, happy hour, social outing or any other group event!
