How Impressive Have The Vikings Been This Season? Only 1 Team Has Done Better

Fans of the Minnesota Vikings are still pinching themselves at this point in the season as the dream ride continues. If the purple sweep the Packers in their season series this weekend the Vikings will do something that only 1 team has done since 1989 where Las Vegas is concerned. And what, do I say the Vikings will have accomplished with one more win? Tossing it in the Vegas oddsmaker's faces with 7.5 more wins than predicted this season. The only team to win more games than what Vegas thought they would since 1989, was the Rams, in their St. Louis Era, back in 1999, they were called the Greatest Show on Turf.

That's right. At the beginning of this season, the Vegas oddsmakers had the Vikings win over/under at a paltry 6.5. No one was really sure how the team would play, considering a rookie quarterback was drafted in the first round, and a journeyman/'bust' was expected to start the first couple until the rookie was ready to play.

That hasn't happened as the Vikings reeled off 5 straight wins to start the season, lost twice, and then haven't looked back since that loss to the LA Rams in October.

If the VIkings were to win out their last two games they would have the largest difference in preseason wins predicted since 1989 with a gain of 8.5 wins compared to where the Vegas oddsmakers saw them with 6.

Leading the team to success is a guy who has never seen a 13-win season as a starter before. Actually, it took Sam two parts of three seasons with the New York Jets, the team that drafted him, to see 13 total wins!

While the season isn't done yet, regardless of what happens it is great to see Sam and the team have some success, even when they weren't picked to do much of anything this year.
