According to WJON, Benton County has become the 9th county in Minnesota to raise the tobacco buying age to 21. This includes the cities of Rice and Gilman. But, St. Cloud, Sauk Rapids, Sartell and Foley do not have an ordinance about it. This means, you can still purchase it in those cities if you're 18 and older.

I think we're trending in the right direction with getting rid of cigarettes and tobacco as a society...but, at the same time, if cities close by are selling it to people who are 18, then how beneficial is this? Also, I think it's totally bizarre that those between 18 and 21 can still use tobacco, they just can't buy it. UM, what? Maybe there's something I'm missing here.

What do you think about the new tobacco ordinance in Benton County?
