My husband Dave is an extremely romantic guy even though he doesn't think he is. He has kind of outdone himself on Valentine's Day in the past and this year was no exception.

Dave and I went to dinner and a St. Cloud State hockey game on Saturday. We both agreed to celebrate early because we get up at the crack of dawn on weekdays. We exchanged gifts, and I gave him chocolates and that sort of thing--you know, your standard Valentine's Day gift. I couldn't believe what he gave me--it was both hilarious and cute.

There's a toy that I loved when I was a kid called Hit Clips. It was like the original MP3 player. You could buy little clips of songs and listen to it through your earbuds. Kids my age loved them because they made the bus ride to school bearable. I told Dave that I wished I still had my old Hit Clips so that I could show it to him because he'd get a kick out of it. He laughed and thought it was funny that kids paid so much money for a one minute demo of their favorite songs.

He and I had that conversation a few months ago and not only did he remember it, but he was actually listening to what I said because he surprised me with a Hit Clips for Valentine's Day. It made me laugh and feel super nostalgic.

He meant it to be a funny gift, but I think it's the most romantic gift because in a world where we have so many distractions sometimes the greatest gift is just knowing that someone is listening to what you have to say. He actually took our conversation to heart. It was one of the most romantic gifts I've ever received...and, it was a Hit Clips.

What's the most romantic gift you've ever received?
