Hot Dog Lovers, Be Aware Of This Summer’s Meat Recall
This is the time of year when all I want to do is eat hot dogs and brats. Is it just because grilling them on an outdoor grill is possible this time of year, or maybe because grilled dogs and brats do taste better than when they're fixed on the stove or in the air fryer?
So this is probably the worst time of year that something like this could happen here in Minnesota.
VOLUNTARY RECALL OF MEAT PRODUCTS
A meat processing company located in Belle Plaine, Minnesota, is doing a voluntary recall of its sausage products.
The products that are in the voluntary recall tested positive for Listeria Monocytogenes, which can cause Listeriosis. Listeriosis can cause life-threatening illnesses that include Sepsis and meningitis.
According to the Minnesota Department of Agriculture, there have not yet been any reports of illness from ingesting these products.
AFFECTED PRODUCTS
The affected products have a packed-on date of 6-25-25 on their labels, and the establishment number 9821. The meats could also be under the name Tollefson Family Pork that would include the same date and establishment number information.
The products affected by this recall include:
Homestyle Wieners
Smoke Polish Sausage w/Cheddar Cheese
No Sugar Added Homestyle Wieners
Cheese Polish Sausage

SYMPTOMS TO WATCH OUT FOR
If you are pretty sure you've eaten these products, or perhaps you are having some of the symptoms that can be associated with Listeriosis, make sure that you contact your doctor as soon as possible, and throw away the remainder of the product or return it to the location in which it was purchased. Symptoms include:
- Fever
- Headache
- Neck Stiffness
- Nausea

QUESTIONS
If you are having adverse reactions and perhaps ate some of the meats at a 4th of July event over the weekend, and don't know if the brats or other products were in the recall, it might be wise to talk with your doctor.
