If you’re looking for a feel-good holiday adventure that doesn’t require airline tickets, fancy reservations, or even getting out of your car, let me introduce you to one of Central Minnesota’s brightest seasonal gems: 'Light Up Princeton'!

This isn’t just a few strings of lights tossed in some trees. 'Light Up Princeton' is one of those holiday displays that instantly puts you in a better mood the moment you pull in.

A BEAUTIFUL DRIVE THROUGH HOLIDAY EXPERIENCE

It’s a full drive-through experience, which means you can bundle up the family, turn up the radio, grab some hot cocoa, and enjoy the show from the warmth of your vehicle.

The display is open Thursdays through Sundays now through December 21st, running 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. each night. The Minnco Hot Chocolate Hut is open Saturdays and Sundays to stop to warm you up.

On December 20th, there will be horse-drawn Sleigh/Carriage rides through 'Light Up Princeton.' Cost is $20 per couple and $30 per group. Parking will be available outside of the Mille Lacs County Fairgrounds gate, east parking lot.  Rides are being provided by Premier Machine Farm & Carriage of Princeton, and proceeds from the rides will benefit Light Up Princeton 2026.

DON'T MISS THE SPECIAL CHRISTMAS EVE SHOWING

There’s also a special Christmas Eve showing from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m., which feels like the perfect way to kick off the holiday before heading home to cookies, chaos, and wrapping gifts you swore you’d finish earlier.

One of the best parts? It’s completely free. In a season when it feels like everything costs extra, Light Up Princeton is all about spreading joy without asking for anything in return.

You'll want to make sure you check the Princeton Area Chamber of Commerce Facebook page for any weather cancellations of any of these events.

PLEASE SHARE THE LOVE THIS HOLIDAY SEASON

That being said, if you’re able, donations or non-perishable food items are happily accepted. It’s a wonderful way to enjoy something magical while also giving back to the community.

What really makes this display special is how much care and creativity go into it. The lights are thoughtfully arranged, the drive is smooth and easy, and every turn seems to reveal another “wow” moment.

WHO TOOK THESE BEAUTIFUL PHOTOS?

Video and pictures only tell part of the story, but J. Callahan Photography of Princeton has been taking beautiful pictures every year since the light display began. "I am a landscape photographer and FAA part 107 certified drone pilot. I sell prints of my photos and do drone photography professionally, so naturally, I make it a point to capture the show every year. Light Up Princeton is put on by the Chamber of Commerce and volunteers. It's drive-through only, but you can get out to take pictures with the tiger and get souvenirs. I am amazed at how the show gets better every year.  It's really a blessing to our community, and captures the Christmas Spirit," said Jake Callahan.

We thank Jake for the great footage and photos, but there's nothing like seeing it with your own eyes. You truly need to see it in person to appreciate how impressive it is.

START A NEW FAMILY TRADITION THIS YEAR

Whether you’re starting a new family tradition, looking for a low-stress holiday outing, or want to soak in some Christmas cheer without freezing your toes off, 'Light Up Princeton' delivers. It’s festive, fun, and full of heart.
