Historic Houses to Tour in Central Minnesota

Spring is in the air and I know I'm ready to get out and experience something new! Historic houses around the area are going to be opening up for the season. Here are a few you can add to your summer must-see list!

1. Charles Lindbergh House and Museum - Little Falls

Get a close-up look at the life of Charles Lindbergh. View model planes, flight footage, exhibits, and take a simulated test drive of the Spirit of St. Louis.  There are guided house tours, and self guided tours, as well as special events throughout the year.

2. Sinclair Lewis' Boyhood Home - Sauk Centre

From 1889 until 1902, author Sinclair Lewis called Sauk Centre home. The Sinclair Lewis Foundation acquired the house in 1956 and has restored to its appearance during Lewis's boyhood, and offer tours regularly throughout the summer.

3. Linden Hill Historic Estate - Little Falls

A historic estate built in the 1890's on the banks of the Mississippi. Individuals, families, and groups can visit the Weyerhaeuser Home with the Linden Hill Historic House Museum and Musser Mansion, and learn about what it was like living in the early 1900s.

4. The Christie Home - Long Prairie 

Built in 1901, the house was home to Dr. George R. Christie, Sr, and his family from 1901 - 1976, at which time Dr. Robert Christie, last resident of the home, passed away.   The remaining family donated the home to the city of Long Prairie, with the condition that it be maintained as a museum and be open to the public in the summer.
