Tis the season! Normally when you hear that phrase it’s related to Christmas, but not this time. Tis the Season, Pothole Season that is.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation sent a message yesterday out on X, or Twitter for those can’t break the old habit of calling it Twitter, that we are entering the season for the filling process to begin.

The reminder was somewhat of a warning as well that your traffic flow could be affected because of these crews working. MnDOT did a nice job of being polite with their public announcement, but what it boils down to is that there are human beings working on these crews and you need to slow down when you come into their workspace.

For some people out there, they make a practice of not leaving themselves any wiggle room in how much time they have to get somewhere.  These are the same people that scoff at the idea of arriving somewhere earlier than the start time.

What I’m trying to say is that these are the folks who get the most flustered when there are any delays on the roads, or they forget that it’s somebody’s husband or wife, son or daughter or father or mother working on the road.

Give yourself some extra time and be patient. I am probably the most impatient on the road, or at least I used to be. Living in Minnesota has helped me work on having to wait on crews to do their jobs. Afterall, they are doing what they do so we can have better roads to drive on.

One thing I thought was interesting was the fact there’s a place on the MnDot website where you can report a pothole. I just wanted to send them a map of the whole state, but I figure they deal with enough smart butts on a daily basis, they don’t need another.

Remember, it’s Pothole Season in Minnesota. Let's all celebrate accordingly.
