GROUND TURKEY?  NO WAY!

I try my best to stay on track and eat healthy meals, and create tasty healthy meals for my boys.  I stopped by to see my friends at Waite Fusion in St cloud for a healthy shake, hot tea, and a shot of aloe drink, and I got this great idea.

Yesterday I was asking for some delicious foods I could make for the kids. And one of the girls mentioned turkey tacos. I was horrified at the idea of using anything but beef, sour cream, and regular taco hard and soft shells. But ...my eyes have opened. I took her advice, made this fantastic tacos, and added a little twist of my own.

KELLY'S TURKEY TACO'S

  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 1 package taco seasoning
  • 1 can northern white beans, blended
  • chopped tomatoes,
  • chopped lettuce
  • chopped onions
  • salsa
  • hot sauce
  • Josephs flax pita bread
  • Chobani plain yogurt

DIRECTIONS

In skillet, brown ground turkey meat. drain. add back to pan. add taco seasoning mix and water. once thickened, add one can of blended northern white beans. This will give it a thick, chili like texture.

PREPARATION

Take one pita bread, spread two tablespoons of chobani plain yogurt on one side of pita bread. fill with meat mixture, favorite chopped veggies, roll up and serve.

You won't believe how good these are. The Pita bread only has 60 calories per pita, and each pita contains 6 grams of protien. This, compared to the shells I was looking at, that could be anywhere from 120 calories to 260 per tortilla.  It's not just an alternative, it's absolutely delicious.

MY SECRET TO GREAT TASTING TURKEY TACOS

The secret is....if you don't tell anyone...they'll never know the difference. Delicious, low calorie, and good for you! ENJOY!
