Haehn Museum Set to Reopen Sister Frandrup Art Exhibit for 2023

ST. JOSEPH (WJON News) -- A popular museum exhibit in central Minnesota will remain in place for another year.

The Haehn Museum, located inside the Art and Heritage Place at St. Benedict’s Monastery in St. Joseph, has been displaying the handmade artwork of Sister Dennis Frandrup in the “By the Work of Her Hands” exhibit since April 2022.

Frandrup served as a teacher for 50 years, including 32 as an art professor at the College of St. Benedict, and spent decades making art in a variety of different mediums. The exhibit closed in December, but due to continued interest, is set to return this week for a second run.

Following a refresh to showcase new art pieces and highlight new stories, the exhibit will reopen to the public on Tuesday. In addition to the museum tour itself, visitors can find pieces of Frandrup’s art as well as items made by other sisters for sale in the Whitby Gift Shop. All of those proceeds will benefit the monastery.

The museum is open Tuesday through Friday from 12:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. The exhibit is free and will run through December 15th.
