Give Back: Donate Excess Halloween Candy To Local Organizations
TRICK OR TREATERS GIVE BACK
I'm hoping that you and your kids had a great time trick or treating this year, even though it was a cold and windy Halloween. We all know that it's not just about getting the candy; It's about making memories with family and friends. I don't know how many stories I've shared about trick-or-treating with my friend Ann in middle school. We dressed up as a two-headed monster and had to stick our heads out of her Dad's giant sweatshirt, and we each only had one arm we could use. We also somehow tied our legs together like we were in a three-legged race. It made for a very memorable night. I think about that fun year often.
DONATE YOUR CANDY
It's always fun to see how much candy you can get, but at the end of the day; none of us need to consume the massive amounts of candy that some kids can come home with. That's why I wanted to mention the programs that exist where you can give some of that Halloween candy away to organizations that could use a little boost.
If you are looking to donate the remainder of your unopened treats, there are several organizations that would love to have the candy to share with others.
ORGANIZATIONS THAT CAN HELP
Livea centers across Minnesota would love to take your extra candy. The candy donations go to a variety of causes, like sending candy overseas to troops, organizations like The Ronald McDonald House, local food pantries, homeless shelters, and nursing homes.
TROOPATHON.ORG
There is also an organization that works with local businesses that want to participate in a Halloween Candy Buy Back program called Troopathon.org, which your company can be a part of by going to troopathon.org.
