Get Your Fishin’ Poles Ready, MN Fishing Opener Just Weeks Away

Get your fishing poles ready! The 72nd Annual Minnesota Governor's Fishing Opener is set for the weekend of May 9th through the 12th in Albert Lea, Minnesota.

What does that mean exactly? Well, if you're from Minnesota, it's a day you've been waiting for all winter long. It means that fishing is open for the spring and summer season. To celebrate, the Governor goes fishing and the hosting town celebrates in a big way with special events throughout the weekend.

Albert Lea will be where the action is at this year. They've got a kids' fishing event planned along with a community picnic and street dance. Attendees can also participate in beer and wine tasting, biking, canoeing, kayaking and more.

You don't have to be in Albert Lea to celebrate. Many Minnesotans will be celebrating the fishing opener on their own from one of our great state's 10,000+ lakes. It's finally ALMOST time to go fishin'!
