Get To Know Your New American Idol Winner

When Ryan Seacrest announced Phillip was our new "American Idol" winner, he made mention that he just had emergency surgery to save his life. We knew he was dealing with chronic kidney problems during his run on AI, and his mom says he was in pain the entire time. His dad is now speaking up and saying he had EIGHT operations since beginning AI.

"He's been doing [well], but it's just grueling hours . . . he's hitting 50%, but he's still up there swinging away. They've just seen a glimpse of what he can do. We can't wait to get him well and 100% and really see how he can perform."

It sounds like Phillip will have kidney reconstructive surgery in the next couple of weeks and is expected to make a full recovery. I hope so! He's got the Idols Live Tour!! I can't wait for him to finally be healthy and really enjoy what the music industry can do for folks who deserve it and work hard to get to where they are at now!
