Free Easter Meal Offered for St. Cloud Area Residents
ST. CLOUD - Once again this Easter a local couple has taken on the task of offering free meals to people who want or need them.
Ben Prigge and his wife first served up a free meal on Thanksgiving in 2020. They gave away 80 meals that they made in the kitchen in their home. The following Easter in 2021 the number of meals they gave away grew to 600, and for this past Thanksgiving, they more than doubled it to about 1,300.
Prigge says as their community outreach continues to grow, they have created a nonprofit called Faith Feeds.
We decided that this is something that looks like it is a big need in our community. So, we wanted to try to create a nonprofit so we could help out as many people as we can, especially around the holidays. The biggest drive for it is honestly the holidays can be tough for a lot of people.
Prigge says they are hoping to prepare and giveaway 1,500 meals this Easter.
He says their church, Solid Rock Family Church, offers up some volunteers, but they could use more if you'd like to help. The Backwards Bread Company is donating the bread, some monetary donations help to buy the rest of the groceries, but they also could use more donations.
The food prep will be on Thursday and Friday, April 14th and 15th, and the meal pick-up will be on Saturday, April 16th. Pick up in St. Joseph will be from 9:00 a.m. until noon and pick up Sartell will be from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m.
The meals are handed out cold and are meant to be heated up and served on Easter Sunday.
The Easter dinner will include both ham and turkey, glazed carrots, pasta, a fruit salad, and a dessert.
Prigge says if you would like to reserve a meal you can email them and let them know how many meals you would like. firstname.lastname@example.org.
