Find Your Polling Place And Vote Today
There are several reasons to get out and vote today! You can find your polling place and find out what's on your ballot here. Sartell-St. Stephen and Sauk Rapids-Rice both have big questions on the ballot that'll help decide the future of their school districts.
Sauk Rapids-Rice
Residents in Sauk Rapids and Rice will have one ballot question to decide whether to replace Pleasantview Elementary School with a new school on the current site. The district says they have held two-dozen listening sessions and sent out 12,000 surveys. They found that residents would like issues at the elementary school addressed mainly dealing with a lack of space. Pleasantview Elementary lost some much needed classroom space last school year to a fire.
Sartell-St. Stephen
The Sartell-St. Stephen School District is looking for an increase in money to operate their new high school. Voters are being asked to replace the old referendum with a new one that would increase by $435.17. The new amount would be $460 per pupil. You can see the sample ballot question below.
Sartell's ballot question reads like this;
"The board of Independent School District No. 748 (Sartell-St. Stepehen) has proposed to revoke the school district's existing referendum revenue authorization of $24.83 per pupil and to replace the authorization with a new authorization of $460 per pupil. The proposed new referendum revenue authorization would be applicable for ten years, beginning with taxes payable in 2020, unless otherwise revoked or reduced as provided by law. Shall the school district's existing referendum revenue authorization be revoked and the increase in revenue proposed by the board of Independent School District No. 748 be approved?"
Voting yes on the referendum means you're voting for a property tax increase. Voting no means you're rejecting the proposed referendum.
It's really simple to find out where to vote and what's on your local ballot. The polls close tonight at 8 p.m. local time.
