Tallest Family in the World is From Minnesota
I've seen some tall people. I have even been told that "I'm tall". And I'm about 5'7". That doesn't seem like it's that tall. The average height of an American female is about 5'3.5" and the average height for an American male is about 5'9". When you look globally, it's even shorter. Average male is 5'7" and average woman is 5'3". So the height for women is about the same, where men are usually a bit taller in the United States. That would be why people think I am tall at 5'7".
TALLEST FAMILY IN THE WORLD
Now, we are going to look at a family from Northern Minnesota.
This is from a few years ago, but I checked and they still hold the Guinness Book of World Records for the tallest family in the world. Might be hard to beat this one.
MEET THE TRAPP FAMILY
The Trapp family, Scott, Krissy, Savanna, Molly, and Adam, are from Esko, Minnesota. This family of 5 has an AVERAGE height of 6 feet 8 inches tall. I remind you again - AVERAGE height. The youngest of the famlly is the tallest, and he is 7'3". The shortest is mom, Krissy, and she is 6'3".
DID THEY PLAY SPORTS
Of course all the kids were in sports, and their coach would tell them that "you can't teach height. You're either tall or you're not". The kids played both volleyball and basketball Perfect sports to play when you have some significant height to your advantage.
IT WAS PAINFUL GROWING UP - LITERALLY
When they were kids, there were definitely some growing pains. The kids say that it literally hurt sometimes, and Molly said she once grew an inch and a half in one month. In first grade she was taller than her teacher. Although I'm not sure how tall the teacher was, but still. Kids in first grade are generally not over 5 feet tall. Many times they aren't even over 4 feet tall.
Finding clothes was tough too, and learning that they generally have to duck to walk through most doorways. The only people that they have encountered that are as tall as they are, or taller would be some professional basketball players.
LOVE WHO YOU ARE
They love to give the message of "...embrace who you are. Rock what you got. There is nobody else like you and that is fantastic."
