End Of An Era: Hooters Leaves Minnesota After Decades

A staple of the Mall of America has announced that its last day open will be March 22nd, which only gives fans of this business 10 days to enjoy. The closure also means that this chain will no longer have any stores in the land of 10,000 lakes.

Hooters at the MOA Announces Its Closing Soon

This morning, Hooters announced it would be closing the Mall of America restaurant after 33 years of operating in one of the biggest malls in the country. According to a representative with Hooters, when asked if the news was true: "Yes, our social media post is correct, after 33 years, Hooters, one of the original establishments at Mall of America, will close its doors on Sunday, March 22nd."

That's right, this is one of the original tenants of the MOA closing after a 33-year run.

Inflation & Competition Causing The Closure

A press release stated that the closure was based on numerous factors, which included:

"...steep competition, other high-profile establishments shuttering their doors, record-high inflation and costs, we are unable to continue with business as usual...Restaurants Of America will focus on our remaining units located in Colorado, Arizona and New Mexico."

Known For Wings & Waitresses

Hooters, of course, is known for its wings and its waitresses, who were known due to the uniform they wore, tight tank tops, and short orange shorts. St. Cloud briefly had a Hooters where TruStone Financial is now located. A search of past Hooters locations in Minnesota didn't turn up many, as the franchise has been closing more stores than they have been opening in recent years.
