EATING HEAT BEATS THE HEAT

In my mind, if you are eating spicy foods, you're bodies' going to be heating up. Doesn't that make sense? I mean think about it. I've taken my kids out to eat hot wings in the past, and they want to try the hottest varieties. I watch them eat spicy wings, and turn blood red, and sweat. So how does this keep you cool when it's 95 degree's outside?

The science behind why you might want to eat spicy foods is really simple. Spicy foods make you sweat, right? When you work out, you start to sweat because you're hot, and the sweat cools your body.

So as you are sitting outside this weekend, whether your going to be boating, floating in a pool or just enjoying the heat, actually eating spicy foods may be a good idea.

Probably the easiest spicy food to eat while you're out and about, is just to pack some veggies in your cooler; specifically peppers of all kinds. But if you aren't a person that eats straight up peppers, try this delicious easy recipe.

BAKED CREAM CHEESE STUFFED JALEPENOS

I use my new air fryer to make these on the regular. They are super easy to make and ready in about 15 minutes.

  • 12 peppers: Choose your level of heat pepper; I use sweet peppers and jalapeno's
  • 8 oz. of softened cream cheese
  • 2 tablespoons of hot taco seasoning mix

If you are using a regular oven, you'll need to heat it to 400. If you're using your air fryer, just throw them in on the auto veggie setting and watch them. Usually about 400 for 10 minutes, but keep an eye on them.

Spray your pan or line pan with tin foil for easy clean up.  I cut my peppers about 1/3 the way down, to chop off the seed pack, and then I leave the pepper whole and stuff the whole thing; but I use mini peppers. If you're using big peppers you'll want to cut them into halves, to make pepper boats.

Fill each pepper with the cream cheese mixed with the taco seasoning. I like to put just a tablespoon of the mixture into each mini pepper, but you do whatever you like. There are no rules here.

Then, simply bake them. You might want to set your oven to broil, or your air fryer to 'toast' to get that toasty covering.
