DJ Notebook: My Thanksgiving Vacation
I took a mini stay-cation this past week. It was great, but I'm glad to be back. I spent a lot of quality time with my son, Charlie, who just turned one. He has developed quite the little personality.
I started my week off by setting up our Christmas tree (yes, it was up before Thanksgiving). I thought for sure my son would have knocked it over or taken every ornament down by now...but, so far he's been good with it. The bottom half of our tree is naked without ornaments just in case.
We watched tons of Netflix Christmas movies and I think our favorite one so far this year is Christmas Inheritance. Charlie's favorite genre of music has become anything Christmas! I can't get Jingle Bells out of my head!
This is the first year in the history of me sending out Christmas cards that I'm actually ahead of the game. My cards have been ordered and might actually get to people before Christmas this year!
I made lots of treats and goodies for Thanksgiving, including the homemade cheesecake recipe I shared with you two weeks ago. If you didn't make it over your holiday, I'd bookmark the recipe and save it for Christmas, Valentine's Day or just because...because, it's that good!
We went to three Thanksgiving celebrations not including our own little dinner I hosted for our family of three. I learned that my son hates turkey and mashed potatoes. We were in the car a lot this week and I think Charlie, Dave and I have a new found appreciation for staying home. If I never see turkey or pie again it'll be too soon.
I did go shopping on Thanksgiving and I spent more than I'd like to admit--currently looking for a side hustle to pay down my holiday shopping spree...don't tell Dave.
I've been thinking long and hard about my goals for 2019 and I made myself a list of things I'd like to accomplish in the New Year. I had a lot of time to kill while my son napped over vacation.
Somewhere in all of the excitement I ended up catching a cold. 'Tis the flu season, am I right? I had a restful and relaxing holiday away from the station, but I'm so happy to be back and in a routine again!
I hope your Thanksgiving was full of family, fun and food!
