On November 19, attendees of the D23 convention in Orlando, Florida were treated to a special glimpse of Animal Kingdom's upcoming Pandora: The World of Avatar, an area of the park based on James Cameron's hit 2009 film Avatar which is currently being built in Walt Disney World.

During a presentation, Chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Bob Chapek announced that the highly anticipated innovative and "immersive" new land will open to park visitors in summer 2017.

According to The Orlando Sentinel, image renderings revealed an inside look at various attractions and features of Pandora, including a Satu’li canteen, a Windtraders shopping area and Pongu Pongu beverages, as well as the family friendly Na'vi River ride, which Chapek compared to Disney's famous Pirates of the Caribbean ride.

Other upcoming Disney Parks attractions like the under-construction Star Wars Land in Disney's Hollywood Studios were also previewed, and Chapek reportedly teased that Epcot will also undergo a "major transformation."
