Are the Wilf family playing chess while the rest of the NFL world is playing checkers? That is what some people are thinking ahead of tonight's big game between the Detroit Lions and the Minnesota Vikings. The Wilf family did something that had Detroit's fans and owners so upset they went to the NFL, claiming it wasn't legal, except it was. Here's what the Wilf family did that made the Lions and their fans so angry!

Ahead of tonight's match-up with the Detroit Lions, the Minnesota Vikings ownership group, led by the Wilf family, took the unusual route of buying up close to $2 million in tickets, behind the Vikings bench, and then turned around and offered the tickets at a substantial discount to Viking's season ticket holders.

Albert Breer, a senior NFL writer broke the news yesterday afternoon.

According to Breer's article, here,

"In the days leading up to Sunday night’s showdown against the Detroit Lions, the Vikings took the unusual measure of buying around 1,900 tickets for the road game on the secondary market, at about $1,000 apiece, for a total approaching $2 million. The team then turned around and sent an email to season ticket holders, offering the opportunity to buy the tickets at a much lower price point, and in some cases for as little as $200 per ticket.

The rival Lions flagged it, with the team’s ticket office noticing the unusual activity, then finding out about the email. The Lions contacted the league office about it and were told, per sources, that the Vikings didn’t break any rules in the process of pulling this off."

If you ask me, it just shows what kind of owners the Wilfs are. They wanted every advantage for the Vikings, even on the road. To buy up that many tickets and then offer them up to season ticket holders for the chance to see the Vikings clinch the division title and the No. 1 overall seed in the NFC playoffs, just speaks volumes about their dedication to the team and season ticket holders.

The game starts at 7:20 tonight on NBC, the final game of the regular season, and something tells me it's going to be one of the most-watched games in the NFL this year.
