The 2016 Met Gala brought out some dark demons for Demi Lovato.

The pop star revealed in a new cover story for Billboard that she almost relapsed at the annual fundraising event because a celebrity was a "complete bitch" to her. "[The person was] miserable to be around. It was very cliquey. I remember being so uncomfortable that I wanted to drink," the "Sorry Not Sorry" singer told the outlet.

Lovato then texted her manager, who arranged a spot for her at a local Alcoholics Anonymous meeting immediately following the gala.

"I changed my clothes, but I still had my diamonds on -- millions of dollars of diamonds on in an AA meeting," she continued. "And I related more to the homeless people in that meeting who struggled with the same struggles that I deal with than the people at the Met Gala -- fake and sucking the fashion industry’s dick."

Lovato didn't disclose which celebrity she was referring to. Fans may recall a photo that circulated of Nicki Minaj side-eyeing her on the red carpet, but despite speculation, Lovato insisted it was a joke. "The shade being thrown in this picture actually gives me life," she captioned the picture on Instagram. So for now, the mystery remains unsolved.

Over the last decade, Lovato has endured a very public battle with addiction. In 2010, at just 18, she entered into rehab after punching a backup dancer on her tour with the Jonas brothers. There, she sought treatment for drug and alcohol addictions, bipolar disorder, and an eating disorder.

She's since released two documentaries chronicling her recovery: 2012's Demi Lovato: Stay Strong, an MTV film for which Lovato admitted she was "on drugs for half of," and Simply Complicated in 2017, a YouTube feature she called "a re-do."

She's now an advocate for recovery, and celebrated her fifth year of sobriety last May.
