Booking a Flight for Minnesotans May Soon be More Complicated
For many people in Minnesota, the idea of going on a vacation during the cold months might feel much like a necessity. Or maybe that summer family vacation - taking the kids to Disney World, or wherever, might be a bit costly, but now might even be harder to book.

Delta Airlines has just made an announcement that they are going to be changing the way that they set up their flights - actually the way they are classifying the seat assignments and where you are sitting.
When I first looked at this, I didn't think it was that big of a deal, but then I read further and saw something that kind of struck me as weird, and quite honestly, unfair.
WHAT ARE THE NEW SEAT CLASSIFICATIONS
Delta Main Cabin will now be called Delta Main.
Delta Comfort+ is now simply Delta Comfort
Delta First Class has been shortened to Delta First
See - not that hard to decifer. They are literally just dropping off a word. I think that's fairly easy to navigate.
If you are flying "boujee" you have some other choices.
HERE IS WHERE IT GETS MORE COMPLICATED
There used to be Basic Economy. That was the cheapest flight you could take on Delta. Now, that will be a part of the Delta Main category. BUT, now there will be a Delta Main Basic and a Delta Main Classic. Still doesn't seem too bad until you find out that when you book Delta Main Basic, you don't get to log in any sky miles. That seems unfair. You are still flying Delta - you should get those miles. I understand that you don't get some of the other perks, like the Sky Club, but no miles????? Not cool, Delta.
If you book Delta Main Classic, you do get the miles, you can pic your seat, and you can board a little earlier. Personally, unless you have little kids, a physical issue, or are in first class, I don't see the great thing about boarding early. I would almost rather book later and not sit on the plane any longer than I need to. But I do understand that sometimes the overhead compartments fill up, and then you may get stuck checking your carry-on. Other than that - why board early?
HOW MUCH IS THIS GOING TO COST TRAVELERS
That's a great question. And I'm sure prices will vary depending on where you are going, and what time of year it is, holidays, etc. Basically, this is what they have laid out.
.
These changes won't go into effect until October 1st, so if you are planning a Fall or Winter trip somewhere and you plan to fly with Delta, just be aware of these changes.
