Cold Spring’s First Splash Pad Is Finally Open
Congratulations to the City of Cold Spring! They just got their first community splash pad! It's now open for your enjoyment inside of Alexander Park on Main Street and Second Avenue South.
The Firefighters Splash Pad has been a project several years in the making. It officially opened on Friday, August 28th.
According to WJON, the idea was brought to life by the River Park Community Foundation. The Cold Spring City Council got on board and approved about $2 million to start developing the project.
In addition to the new splash pad, the park also features an amphitheater, walking paths, playground equipment pavilion and bathroom facilities.
Right now, only the splash pad and bathrooms are open. According to the City of Cold Spring Facebook page, "the playground and other amenities need more time for the grass to get established."
You can enjoy the splash daily from 10 a.m .to 8 p.m.
It's safe to say residents are more than a little excited. Since news of the splash pad opening hit social media, hundreds of community members have reacted.
Curt Sauer wrote, "Absolutely greatest addition to the Cold Spring parks! Great vision from Tom Kraemer and his son Tim!! Thanks to so many generous businesses and individuals and the City of Cold Spring to make this a reality!"
Pam Zierden Dickson commented, "Can adults play in the water also?"
