When you go outside, does your central/northern European heritage lead your skin to go from translucent to lobster in record time? A few weeks ago I got a sunburn while at a concert waiting in line for merch. I had slathered on sunblock before going outside, but apparently missed a spot.

For years I've heard outdoors-inclined folks wax poetic about the need for a 'base tan' to prevent sun damage...but is that fact or farce?

HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA...no. Because a base tan IS sun damage.

At best, a 'base tan' is like SPF 4 sun block, which might be enough to keep some people from getting sunburned.

However, too much sun ups your odds of getting skin cancer, even if you don't get burned. It'll also cause premature aging.

Dermatologists (the skin nerds) suggest wearing sunblock rated at least SPF 30 anytime you're out in the sun.

Or just be a hermit like me and avoid the sun whenever possible.

When you think of Minnesota you probably picture lakes, camping, fishing, and Paul Bunyan. But there are also native animals that live in the state that can rough you up or even kill you.

These Are The Most Boring Cities in all of Minnesota

Road Snacks compiled a list of Minnesota’s most boring places by pinpointing the cities lacking in "exciting people." But don’t hold it against me when you see they define "boring" by your age, marital status, and whether you have kids.
