It’s taken forever and a day to finally see both Arnold Schwarzenegger taking the Celebrity Apprentice desk, and Emerald City come to life, but NBC has finally made a firm commitment. Both high-profile new series have set January bows, just barely into 2017.

The sheer gravity of Orange Is the New Black Season 4 demands a re-watch before long, but Netflix is already hard at work on that three-year renewal with Season 5 production. Not only that, but Lori Petty has compelling reason to believe fan-favorite Lolly will return for Season 5, despite an ominous outcome this year.

The “Battle of the Bastards” may be behind us, but Ser Davos’ fighting days are far from over when Game of Thrones Season 7 premieres. Some new photos see actor Liam Cunningham undergoing some bareknuckle (bare finger stump?) training from UFC fighter Conor McGregor’s coach John Kavanagh, just as The Mountain before him.

Dramatized event series of major cultural touchstones have been on fire since FX’s People v. O.J. Simpson, and it looks like Michael Jackson may next get the TV treatment. J.J. Abrams has re-teamed with Tavis Smiley for an event series based on the last days of pop icon Michael Jackson, based on author Smiley’s book.

In spite of their monstrous and ever-increasing success, Netflix has yet to publicly reveal any real viewing data, something San Francisco-based Symphony sought to rectify with a strange cell phone app analyzing viewership data by audio. Netflix flatly denied the accuracy of said “ratings,” but may not want to, if word of Fuller House having upwards of 10 million viewers proves true.

We’re likely going to see HBO on a tear of new original pilots, given new management and some notable recent flops, and the first new drama orders are certainly promising. One new series ordered to pilot from Anchorman team Adam McKay and Will Ferrell sounds like Arrested Development as high drama, while another from Kathryn Bigelow will take us to Mogadishu, Minnesota.

Whether or not you watch Boy Meets World sequel series Girl Meets World, it’s hard to deny the twinge of nostalgia that comes from seeing certain characters (Turner lives!) and gags pop up again. So it is with the new Season 3 title sequence, a near shot-for-shot remake of one of the classic opening credits from the original series.
