I've been noticing more and more items on my feed coming from the Melrose area. I don't live in Melrose, but seeing the things I've been seeing, it sure does seem like a place people would want to live, check out some of the fun changes that have happened around town.

Melrose's newest mural was created by local volunteers at the request of the business owners. Although not a MAAC event we continue to support art in its many forms throughout out our 740 area. Connect with us to help encourage and support the arts throughout our district.

The new mural that went up in town really looks sharp, and it also reflects parts of the community, seemingly popping out of the wall.

Another great thing going on in Melrose is the flowers that decorate the downtown area. Growing up in the North Metro my hometown never really had downtown plants, but when I took my first job in radio down in Southern Minnesota that town, really embraced the downtown flowers and decoration.

It's wonderful to see small towns out here in Greater Minnesota stepping up to make their communities look as great as they do by either adding a mural to an 'empty' building wall or working with a group to fundraise towards adding pops of color with flower planters.

When your downtown area looks vibrant and welcoming people want to go and spend time there.

Main Street got redone. What a great time to be in the Melrose area

Even with a tornado striking Melrose in August, it couldn't keep folks down.

Not every town does decorations or murals like this, and not every town should, but if you are competing for businesses and residents, and you have a downtown area, wouldn't you want to give yourself the best chance at attracting and keeping people and businesses?
