After All Of The Dress Drama, I Finally Said ‘Yes’ To The Dress
Saturday was a day filled with all kinds of wedding planning. I'm finally starting to get my act together and get things moving. My fiance and I brought our moms with us to the food tasting-- and we figured out what we want our menu to be!
After the food tasting, our moms, my grandma and my bridesmaids went dress shopping. We were all excited--but, we were about 10-15 minutes late for our appointment. The bridal boutique that we went to had actually moved locations. We all went to the wrong location.
When we finally arrived at the right bridal shop, we all breathed a sigh of relief. It was time to scout out the perfect dress. I probably tried on AT LEAST 20 dresses and I didn't like any of them. I was starting to get extremely discouraged. My bridal party seemed less than amused by my commentary too. "This one makes me look like a giant tube of toothpaste," "I look like Kat from 'Casper' in this dress," "I look like a giant marshmallow," "This one makes my butt look awkward," and more comments of the same sort.
I hated everything I tried on. You could feel the energy and enthusiasm being drained from the room as the mothers and bridesmaids buried their faces in their hands and were hunched over in their chairs. After two hours of non-stop dress shopping, they would have told me to get anything if it meant we could all go home.
I decided to call it quits on that store, and we decided to go to my last appointment for the day. At this point people were hungry and feeling a little irritable. I was feeling hopeless--like I'd never find the perfect dress. I asked my mom if it would be tacky for me to show up to my own wedding in jeans. She gave me a courtesy laugh and said, you're absolutely not going to do that--as if I was actually serious.
After 20 minutes of searching through all of the dresses at the second dress shop, I picked six that I wanted to try on. The second dress I tried on was the dress that I fell in love with! I didn't think it would happen--and I don't think my family did either...but, I found the perfect dress! I came out of the dressing room and said, "guys, I think this is it!" The ladies sat up straight in their chairs and in disbelief asked, "it's beautiful!!! Are you sure?!" I laughed and yelled, "YES!"
We started our adventure at 2:30 p.m. and by 6:30 p.m. we had found the dress! I NEVER want to go dress shopping again. I'm getting stressed out just thinking about it! LOL
